VIDEO SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

SEATS VIDEO/PODCAST PLATFORM

* We are a Thoracic Educational Society, our goal is to provide an online platform for Thoracic surgeons to share and distribute knowledge. This service is free for viewing for everyone. We do not receive any payment for the videos uploaded nor do we pay for uploading videos. The video submission is free.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

1. Please do not submit material that has been previously published.

2. Who Can Submit?

The video submission is open to everyone, and not limited to: surgeons, physicians, clinician-educators, private practice surgeons, residents, fellows or students.

3. What Can Be Submitted?

Videos showcasing novel/unique approach, “How I do it” tutorials, illustration of technique or refinements, and unique / interesting / rare thoracic cases are welcome

You do not have to be the member of SEATS to submit content. However, you are most welcome to apply for SEATS membership at https://seats10.org/subscription-plan/, and join us in our goal of improving thoracic education in Southeast Asia.

4. Personal Details.

You are required to fill up your personal details and strictly follow submission guidelines. All videos must be submitted using the link provided. Video submissions by email will not be entertained as of now.

5. We Respect Data Privacy.

Your submission must NOT contain visible or audible identifiable information from which a patient could reasonably believe they might be identified.

Examples of information that should not be visible in any part of a submission include but are not limited to: images of a patient’s face or other distinctive feature, names, birth date, admission or discharge date, and hospital identification numbers.

6. Copyright.

If you are not the copyright holder of any portion of your submission (e.g., illustrations, images, cartoons, music, video snippets, etc.), you must obtain permission to publish the item(s) from the copyright holder before proceeding with your submission. Written permission to publish copyrighted item(s) must be included with submission materials. SEATS reserve the right to remove any video that violates applicable copyright laws.

If videos/figures/graphics/images have been taken from sources not copyrighted by the author, it is the author’s sole responsibility to secure the rights from the copyright holder in writing to reproduce those videos/figures/graphics/images for both worldwide print and web publication. All reproduction costs charged by the copyright holder must be borne by the author.

Once the video is uploaded, the copyright of the video will jointly be owned by SEATS as well as the publisher of the video.

7. Text.

In general, both the summary and narrative portions of your submission should be included into the SEATS content submission form (you may submit a Word document to demonstrate suggested figure and/or video locations). This summary is limited to 100 words. Summary must be in English.

8. Video Review

Videos submitted will be reviewed by Video & Podcast Committee of SEATS before it is accepted and approved for viewing on the SEATS official website.

9. SEATS Best Video

All successfully published videos on the SEATS website will be enrolled in Best Video Competition.

VIDEO SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

1. Figures/Images.

Please submit any figures/images as high-quality JPG files with pixel density of at least 480 x 480 pixels, to facilitate good rendering on the screen.

2. Narration.

Any submitted video must be of high quality, with or without voice narration, either in English or other regional languages. If the narration is not in English, we would require the subtitles to be in English.

3. Duration.

Videos should not exceed 15 minutes; the ideal duration is typically 5-10 minutes.

4. Size.

Videos should be no larger than 1 GB.

5. Format.

SEATS will accept video submissions in a variety of different formats, but MP4, MOV, and WMV formats are preferable. Do not password-protect videos.

6. Background Music.

Background music should not be used.

7. Categories.

Submissions will be grouped based on categories as following:
  • a) Lung
  • b) Mediastinum
  • c) Pleura
  • d) Diaphragm
  • e) Chest Wall
  • f) Oesophagus
  • g) Airway
  • h) Industry-sponsored videos
  • i) Others (e.g. Tips and Tricks during thoracic surgery, Instrumentation, Basic Tutorial Video and etc)

8. Watermark.

To protect the copy right of the video submitted, the SEATS watermark will be placed on the left upper corner of the screen display once the video is approved and uploaded. You have an option to put the logo of your institution on the right upper corner of the video.

After submission, a confirmation email will be sent to the submitter. In order to receive confirmation, please ensure that emails from video@seats10.org are not marked as spam by your e-mail provider.
