The objective of the society is primarily to improve the standard of education and teaching in the field of Thoracic Surgery. It also aims to help develop the field of Thoracic Surgery in the lesser developed partners among ASEAN nations and also help in developing the field of minimally invasive thoracic surgery that is seen as par with the rest of the world. Aims to foster partnership amongst partnering countries in research and development with the aim of developing advanced care of the surgical patient in all things related to the field of thoracic surgery.

Application from surgeons of high academic and professional standing who are engaged in the full-time practice of Thoracic Surgery. They shall have the right of attending scientific and general meetings and social events, and of engaging in all scientific discussions.
